Install Windows 11 on Any Computer, Old or New or Unsupported PC (No TPM Required)

How to Install Windows 11 on Any Old PC: The Ultimate Guide to Bypassing TPM & CPU Requirements

Windows 11 brought a fresh look and new features, but its strict system requirements left many users with older, yet perfectly capable, PCs behind. If you've been told your computer's CPU is outdated or that it lacks a TPM 2.0 module, don't worry. There is a way forward!

This guide will show you how to create a special Windows 11 installation USB drive that bypasses these checks, allowing you to install the latest OS on almost any machine, from a vintage Core 2 Duo to a modern powerhouse.

System Requirements

Some basic resources to run Windows 11 smoothly. Here’s what you'll need at a minimum:

  • Processor: Any 64-bit dual-core processor or better. This method has been tested on everything from old Core 2 Duo, Dual-Core, and Pentium processors to modern 1st Gen Core i-series and newer. (ARM-based processors are not covered in this guide).
  • RAM: A minimum of 2 GB, though 4 GB or more is recommended for a better experience.
  • Disk Space: At least 40 GB of free space. We recommend 80 GB for better performance and room for future updates.
  • BIOS Mode: Your system can be either legacy BIOS or modern UEFI. This guide covers both.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before we start, you need to download two essential files and have a USB drive ready.

  1. Windows 11 ISO File: Download the official Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) directly from Here
  2. Rufus: This is a free utility that will create our bootable USB drive. Download the latest version from the Rufus official site.
  3. USB Flash Drive: A flash drive with at least 16 GB of storage. Warning: All data on this drive will be erased during the process.

Step 2: Create Your Universal Windows 11 USB Drive

This is where the magic happens. Follow these steps carefully to configure Rufus to create an installation drive that ignores the standard system checks.

  1. Insert Your USB Drive: Plug your 16 GB (or larger) USB drive into your computer.
  2. Launch Rufus: Open the Rufus application you downloaded.
  3. Select Your Drive: In Rufus, look at the 'Device' dropdown menu. Make sure your USB flash drive is selected.
  4. Select the ISO: Click the 'SELECT' button and navigate to where you saved the Windows 11 ISO file. Select it.
  5. Choose the Partition Scheme: This is a critical step.

  • For very old PCs (e.g., Core 2 Duo, 1st to 3rd Gen Intel Core) that use a traditional BIOS, select MBR from the 'Partition scheme' dropdown.
  • For most modern PCs (roughly 4th Gen and newer) that use UEFI, select GPT.

  1. Start the Process: Click the 'START' button.
  2. Wait for Completion: Rufus will now create the bootable drive. This may take several minutes. You can monitor the progress bar at the bottom. Once the status says 'READY' (in a green bar), the process is 100% complete.

Boom! You now have a bootable Windows 11 USB drive that can install the operating system on any PC, regardless of whether it meets the official requirements. Simply boot your target computer from this USB drive to begin the installation process. Enjoy your new OS!
